Terms of Service
Effective October 1, 2026
The short version
- Code Quest is a free website for learning Python, made for use in schools.
- Use it for learning, keep your account to yourself, and be respectful.
- Teachers should only add students they actually teach, and should follow their school's rules.
- Code Quest is provided "as is." We work hard to keep it running, but we can't promise it will always be available.
- How we handle data is explained in our Privacy Policy.
1. About these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") apply to the Code Quest website at codequestpython.com and its other addresses (the "Service"). The Service is run by Michael Rubenstein ("we," "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
2. Who can use Code Quest
- Code Quest is meant for students and teachers, mainly in K–12 schools.
- Students under 13 should use Code Quest only as directed by their teacher or school, which is responsible for any consent needed for educational use.
- Teachers get access to the Teacher Dashboard by invitation. We may remove teacher access at any time.
3. Your account
- Give accurate information when you sign up, and use your own account only.
- Keep your password private. You're responsible for what happens in your account.

- Try to break, overload, or interfere with the Service, or use automated tools to scrape it.
- Use the Service for anything illegal or for anything other than learning and teaching.
We may suspend or remove accounts that break these rules.
5. Extra rules for teachers
- Only create or import classes for students you teach or support, and only when your school allows it.
- Follow your school's and district's policies on student data and on using online tools.
- Use student progress information only to support those students' learning.
- When you connect Google Classroom, you confirm that you're allowed to share those class rosters with Code Quest for this purpose.
- Invite links are for other teachers only. Don't post them publicly.
6. Your work and our content
- The code you write in Code Quest is yours.
- The Code Quest lessons, levels, design, and software belong to us. You may use them for learning and teaching, but please don't copy or resell the site itself.

7. Free service, no guarantees
Code Quest is free. It is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. We don't promise that it will always be available, error-free, or that saved progress will never be lost. We may change, pause, or stop the Service, or any part of it, at any time.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, that comes from using or not being able to use the Service. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
9. Ending your use
You can stop using Code Quest at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account as explained in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or end access for anyone who breaks these Terms.
